Austria’s KTM and Germany’s BMW are motorcycling rivals when it comes to motorcycling. From adventure riding to luxury touring, the two motorcycle manufacturers have competed against each other for a long time. So, it comes as a bit of irony to learn that BMW sold off the Italian firm, Husqvarna to the partially Indian-owned KTM this past week.
Buys and mergers from auto manufacturer’s are usually done to share engineering platforms to cheaply create new or slightly different models of existing product without all the spend on R&D from the ground up. This motorcycling venture is probably no different.
