Most modern motorcycles have an interlock system built in to prevent you from riding off if the kickstand is down. For whatever reason, riders like to disable these. Maybe it’s because as soon as you click into gear, the bike kills itself and, (I’ve done this myself) it can be kinda embarrassing.
This past weekend was the start of the 2013 Heartland Park Topeka track day season! Despite some high winds and some, at times, frigid temperatures, over 100 riders braved the variable elements over the course of two days to test themselves against the track, learn a bit about control and have fun in the process. Here in Kansas City, the track day season is right around the corner. In two weeks we will, along with other local area sponsors, take in deep and stinging huffs of race gas, smoking tires, richly burning exhausts and plenty of screaming four-stroke engines thrown into corners at impossible lean angles and insurance-dropping speeds.
Cats. Dogs. Kitchen sinks. Whatever you call it, it was falling from the sky this weekend as the Kansas City metro area finally received some much needed rain. Despite the fact that the storm of wet was being forecast days prior, some guys just couldn’t stay at home. That’s okay though, we made sure that they got what they were in need of and then some!
