This past weekend, Kansas City played host to the Art of the Car Concourse, a traveling carnival of immaculate vehicles of eras past yet remembered fondly. The show was held on the Kansas City Art Institute (Walt Disney is an alumnus) quad and featured some very rare beasts. AKA: “A Weekend In Pictures.” This past Sunday was the 22nd Annual Heart of America Motorcycle Enthusiasts’ Vintage Motorcycle Show. It’s probably the largest niche show in the Kansas City area with crowds in the hundreds gathering around machinery from all eras for a good part of a day.
Working in the retail store at Motorcyclecloseouts has given me the chance to get to know our customers on a different level. The best example of this comes in the form of three motocross loving middle schoolers. As much as I hate to admit it, Mason, Seth, and Dawson have swindled their way into my child-hating heart. Over the Course of one weekend the boys pulled out the big guns; they shared with me their love for motocross and the true meaning of race fever.
As mentioned previously on the Motocycle Closeouts Blog, the Amsoil Arenacross series had made it’s way to Kansas City! Indoor motocross action on a small, tight and very technical track meant lots of excitement, exhaust fumes and a bombastic atmosphere that produced oohs and aaahs all night long.
Last week, Big Boss and I drove 9 hours East to Indianapolis for the 2013 Dealer Expo and IMS Motorcycle Show double-header. Not only were there lots motorcycles on hand, there were also a plethora of parts and gizmos for bikes as well. This past weekend was the 53rd O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels show. If you’ve never been to this Kansas City show, it is simply a gathering of motorcycles and automobiles under one roof. But that’s generalizing by quite a bit as it’s much, much more than that.
